Location

• Kentucky's borders are within 600 miles of two thirds of America's population.
• Kentucky is located in the south central United States along the west side of the Appalachian Mountains and is bordered by seven states.
• The Ohio River, running along the state's northern border, separates Kentucky from Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. West Virginia borders Kentucky to the northeast across the Big Sandy River, and Virginia borders Kentucky to the southeast. Tennessee borders Kentucky to the south, and Missouri adjoins the extreme western edge of the state across the Mississippi River.

• Kentucky's corporate tax rate is 6% and there is no corporate license tax.
• Kentucky recently passed HB 3, Incentives for a New Kentucky (INK) modernizing and streamlining Kentucky's business incentives

Energy

• Kentucky consistently has some of the lowest energy costs in the nation.

Transportation

• Kentucky is located at the center of a 32 state distribution area.
• Five major interstate highways and nine state parkways are in Kentucky. The major interstates are: I-75, I-65, I-24, I-71 & I-64.
• Kentucky has two major shipping hubs. UPS Worldport in Louisville handles 500,000 packages an hour. DHL moved its base to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in early 2009.
• Kentucky has 1,100 miles (1,770) kilometers of commercially navigable waterways and seven public riverports.
• The largest inland port in the nation is in Ashland, KY along the Ohio River.
• Railroads serve Kentucky with 2,760 miles of track, including 2,299 miles of Class I track.
• Railroads operating in the state: CSX, Norfolk Southern, Canadian National Railway Company, Paducah & Louisville Railway.
